Vieja Valley Joyous Jumpers
The Joyous Jumpers Jump On in 2005! Well the Vieja Valley Joyous Jumpers have been jumping as a team for a solid year now! From beginners to advanced, we have them all and it’s been great watching each jumper become stronger in their skills and routines. In 2004 we focused on learning tricks and passing level one and two. This year we’ve added to that focus and moved on to routines, tricks and performing! With new music and some new members the VVJJ team is about 50 students from all grade levels! To start the New Year off with a bang the VVJJ team performed at Kellogg School, a local elementary school, and had 20 different routines all choreographed and ready for the show! Then in March the Jumping for Joy national team came to perform for VV and two other local schools! They then put on a workshop for the three schools at Vieja Valley on a Saturday where 50 local Santa Barbara kids came to learn more about jump roping. We now have jumping pen pals at Roosevelt School, Franklin School and the team members from Santa Clara. Jump roping is such an amazing sport because all you need is a rope and you can make tons of friends all over the world since it is an international passion of many. I look forward to seeing our future performances and team events over the coming months! We even have a few team members going to compete in Regional in April and going to Jump camps this summer in Idaho!! Way to jump on! Let’s do it Vieja Valley Joyous Jumpers!! Keep up the good work! And thanks for a great year already! How do you join team? To be on the team all you have to do is show up to practice, which is Monday and Thursday’s at lunch and work on your skills, and make routines up. You can work on the training schedules we have or trick skill levels too! Feel free to come talk to Coach Caroline or Coach Julie about performing and being on team anytime! Coach Cindy Joy from Jumping for Joy helped us learn what we need to get better at to be able to compete in National and Regional Jump rope Competitions. Here is some training that you can do to help become a stronger jumper! VVJJ Training Schedule: (Just do each of these things one to two times a week!)
Jump on over! Come meet Coach Caroline if you are interested in joining our school jump rope team, Vieja Valley's Joyous Jumpers. To join the team, students will need to complete our Level 1 Skills, dedicate Tuesday and Friday lunch times to practices, help others learn new tricks and be respectful of fellow team members. We hope to put together group routines to share with the rest of the school. We would love to see other local elementary schools
form teams of their own. Jump ropes only cost a dollar making this
a sport affordable to all. We'd love to
see some local adult teams as well.
