Splendid 3rd Place Finish for Vieja Valley in Math Superbowl
Congratulations are due to our Vieja Valley Math Superbowl participants! On Thursday, May 17th, 385 students representing 36 different schools competed in the 26th Annual Math Superbowl at the Earl Warren Showgrounds. Vieja Valley placed third overall, missing 2nd place by one point! Our Fourth Grade team also placed third overall, our Fifth Grade placed 4th and our Sixth Grade team placed 1st! WOW! In the individual competition, 4th grader Price Turk placed 3rd and sixth graders Hannah Koper placed 4th, Agnetta Cleland placed 2nd, and Kevin Hempy placed 1st with a perfect score which is rarely seen in this competition. Vieja Valley wants to extend a hearty congratulations to all the math superbowl participants for their efforts that make us so proud of you and our school. The participants for the 2007 Math Superbowl Team are:
4th Grade – Nicky Cleland, Price Turk, Spencer Mullanix, Tim Heiduk, Alternate tie – Martin Barnick
5th Grade – Emerson Pizzinat, Jieh Meinhold, Matthew Wu, Pauline Simes, Alternate tie – Henry Cruikshank
6th Grade – Agnetta Cleland, Hannah Koper, Kevin Hempy, Reed Mullanix, Alternate – Alexander Torin
A huge thank you is also due to our terrific coaches: Kelly Turk, Josephine Wu, Ming Meinhold, Rob Simes, and Cheryl Hempy. Without your dedication and willingness to give your time to these students, none of this would be possible. Go Vieja! |
