Many children at Vieja Valley have made charming bowls again this year to donate to the Empty Bowls lunch which took place on Nov 7, at the Woman's Club. A wonderful part of this event is how so many people can help to alleviate hunger in our community. Empty Bowls benefits the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, which provides food to more than 160 agencies in the county. There are more than 50,000 people that need help to have regular meals. Over 1/2 of these people are over the age of 65 or under 18. For a donation of $25 a person chooses a handmade bowl, enjoys a simple meal of gourmet soup and bread ... then takes home the bowl as a reminder of the meal's purpose to help feed the hungry in our community.
