Mrs. Seigel-Boettner's
Summer Educational Safaris
Every summer, my husband, two sons, and I travel by bicycle with a group of middle school students. Last summer, we biked with a dozen kids in Vermont on our Peace, Love and Dirt Adventure! We have traveled in Japan, Ireland, Austria, France, Italy, throughout Canada, and America. In the summer of 1986, John and I rode across America with five 12 and 13 year old students. John wrote about our incredible adventure in the book called Hey Mom, Can I Ride My Bike Across America?*

Hey Mom, Can I Ride My Bike Across America? has made its way around the globe thanks to the Internet! Still, we are amazed when we get emails from Alaska, a letter from Russia, and an early morning phone call from Peru. A school teacher in Arizona is having her class construct a website that will tell our story of five young people meeting their country by bicycle. I'll post this web address once the site is up and running.
*Jacob Seigel-Boettner, 14 years old, and Isaac Seigel-Boettner, 12 years old, have asked their parents if they could invite a few friends to take a ride across America this summer. What do you think their parents said?
