Imaginary Place Story
This September sculpture and story was inspired by Alice McLerran and Barbara Cooney's book
called Roxaboxen.
Grassy Meadow
This is my town. It is a grassy area. The house that I live in has white for the bottom of the roof and gray bricks for the top. It has a red door with a gray bottom with four holes in it for a doorknob. I have rocks and grass surrounding it. A lot of other people live there, too. For cars, all people use is a horse for pulling them and a horse cart to hold them. All the girls like to play in the grass but the boys are sent to get honey from the bee hives sometimes. All the other days except one, the girls are sent to the garden to pick vegetables.
Chumash Notes
In October, we watched a film on the Chumash and took 10 interesting notes.
Mr. Stevens taught us how to export our Kid Pix art into our Claris Home Page text.
Rain Poetry
This November poem was inspired by our first rainy day.
It's raining.
I'm having a fit.
It's almost like
I'm stuck in a pit.
I saw a mouse
Walking into his house.
Then I saw some lightening.
It was very frightening.
I said, "Please, stop raining!"
The rain stopped gaining.
Then something popped!
A rainbow was out.
I took a big shout.
The rain was gone.
All my pain was gone.
It was a perfect day
Cause I got to go out and play.
Once there was a cat named Kitcha. She wanted a home, but for three long years she lived by a hotel in Wisconsin. She was not happy. She had siblings that didn't really care if they had a home or if they didn't. One day during their mealtime, somebody came and got the kittens. Kitcha was resting by a sewer pipe and did not see what was going on until she heard them meow. All of a sudden, a girl was skipping on the sidewalk. She saw Kitcha standing there. She did not think Kitcha was fierce so she picked her up and pet her softly. Kitcha meowed. She knew that the girl would take good care of her and feed her.
The next day the girl started playing with Kitcha. Kitcha felt that this would be her new home. The girl's name was Elizabeth. She went over to her best friend's house, which was across the street. When Elizabeth crossed the street quickly, Kitcha stopped in the middle of the road because she heard a dog barking very loudly. Kitcha got scared and started to back up but Elizabeth got Kitcha in her arms and said, "It's all right, Kitcha. He won't harm you." She carried her to the doorstep and rang the doorbell. Kate ran out and said, "Is this your new cat?" Excitedly, Elizabeth said, "Yes! She seems to be quite scared of your dog, Charlie. Do you think we could have them meet so my kitten won't be scared of your dog?" Kate said, "OK", and they both went outside to see Charlie. Kitcha started sniffing him and he licked her. They became good friends.
