We wrote these poems in the fall to go with beautifully designed suns we created after being inspired by Chumash artwork.
We wondered what it would be like to actually be the sun!
Sun Poem
I am the shining
sun.
I live in the solar system.
Black is my madness.
Black is my panther pajamas.
My job is to keep people up and going.
Pluto is my baby sister.
I visit O'Ryan Belt.
My favorite holiday is the solar eclipse.
I spin and twirl
I keep the world alive.

I am the super sweating
sun.
My job is to sweat the earth and keep the planets warm.
My friends are out every night.
They always glow like the light.
My family is everywhere.
I can't get wherever they are.
One of them is very warm.
It is very orange.
Two of them have a ring.
It is sort of pink.
One of them is very, very cold.
But it never gets old.

Powerful Sun
I am the powerful
sun.
My favorite colors are my great fiery red,
My super dooper yellow,
My really mad and angry blackness,
And my steam-rising powerful orange.
I wear a really red and orange jersey.
My job is to make the earth grow
And to help living things.
The stars are my parents.
The planets are my brothers and sisters. I am friends with everybody.
I travel to the long, long, Milky Way
And to the humongous dipper.
I travel with really big jetpacks
And they are big all right
I live in the universe with everything in it, too.
