Island of Blue Dolphin Projects
As you know, several weeks ago students were given seven choices for IBD Final Projects, which are due THIS Friday, January 26. Project Evaluations and Grade Sheets were given out two weeks ago, with the project choices, in order to help students succeed in the planning and implementation of this project. All projects include a written assignment. Projects will be presented in class and on display in the library.
Book Club
Our next book club is this Thursday, January 25, from 10:50-11:30. Thanks to our book club leaders: Mrs. McMahon, Mrs. Vom Steeg, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Blaschke, and Mrs. Sjollema/Mrs. Kirk. Students need to read their letter aloud Wed. night, and they may bring in healthy snacks to share.

No school February 16-19 for President’s Day Weekend. Minimum days March 5-9 for Student-Led Conferences, with dismissal at 1:30 each day. Spring Break is March 26-April 6.
Valentine’s Day Party Sign-Up
Please fill out and return the red party sign-up sheet from last week if you have not yet done so.... Our Room Mothers will contact you well before the party to let you know what is needed.... Thank you in advance for helping to make our party fun and successful! Our Valentine’s Day Party will take place on Wednesday, February 14th, from 2:00-3:00.
Native American Reports
Students are continuing to work very hard during class on their reports. Students are doing research, taking notes, writing rough drafts, editing (with a final teacher edit!), and writing final drafts along with illustrations for each section. We will primarily be working on reports in class, but sections may occasionally come home for homework. Please be supportive during this intensive learning process! I am SO impressed with all the great work so far.
Donations Needed
Please send in NEW comfortable bean bag chairs or cushions for our reading area. Our classroom printer needs a new cartridge! Please send in a cartridge for a HP Laser Jet 4100N, or an Office Max/ Staples gift card.
One last thing! Please send in rat food, finch food, and rat bedding, if you are able to! We are always in need of some pet supplies for our beloved classroom pets. THANKS!
Room 8 Spelling Bee
Thanks to the following students for participating in Friday’s Spelling Bee:
Emily, Katia, David, Brendan, Sam, Austin, Annabelle, Justin, Aidan, Gabriela, Anthony. CONGRATULATIONS to Justin and David, who won the Room 8 Spelling Bee! They will represent our classroom in the Vieja Valley Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 13th.
