Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back To School Night.  Thanks for taking the time to be a part of your child’s educational journey.  I appreciate all the enthusiasm and I know this year will an incredible one for all.

         We are off to CIMI a week from Monday, and I am as excited as the kids.  In the Friday folder (Next week) there will be a sheet with important reminders.  Please be sure to arrange for your CIMI payment.  Please contact Mrs. Stettler if you need

Happenings in Room 12

Reading/Writing:  We have been reading a very magical book called The Van Gogh Café by Cynthia Rylant.  The students have enjoyed the magic in each chapter and have been doing many writing and art projects centered on this book.  The students have been creating “found” poems and responding to literature questions. 

Math:  We have been reviewing in math and working through the 6th grade text chapter 1.  The students also took an assessment test to help place them in the appropriate math group.  These groups will begin upon our return from CIMI the week of Sept 24th.

GRAMMAR:  Madam Heiduk (with tiara, glasses, wand and all) has been working very hard in teaching the students about the 4 different types of sentences.

Science:  In preparation for CIMI, the students have been learning about Phylum Chordata (Vertebrates) and the Invertebrates in Kingdom Animalia.  They have begun working on two pages for their famous CIMI books and have shown great effort and enthusiasm.  We will be working hard on the CIMI books upon our return.

I AM IN SEARCH OF A VOLUNTEER TO BE OUR CLASS YEARBOOK REPRESENTATIVE.  THIS PERSON WILL HELP TAKE AND COLLECT DIGITAL PHOTOS DURING THE YEAR.  TOWARD THE END OF THE YEAR THIS PERSON WILL HELP PUT TOGETHER AND DESIGN OUR YEARBOOK PAGE.  IF INTERESTED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL CARL STILL 964-7602
