Dear Parents,

What a great time the gala was! It was wonderful seeing so many of you.  The money spent is well worth it.  It all goes to the kids.  Thanks for your generosity.

With testing over, weÕre back to a normal schedule.  Math and reading groups resume.  In social studies we are looking at how new governemnts are forming in light of the Revolutionary War.  PE and computer classes continue.

We had an assembly by storyteller Michael Katz.  HeÕs one of our favorites at Vieja.  Ask your child their favorite part.  Remember that this, and other assemblies, are sponsored by our PTA, which is funded by your donations.  Thank you.

Next Friday our class will be having a Read In.  Children may bring an item to lounge on and whatever theyÕd like to read.  ItÕs an opportunity for magazines, comic books, picture books, things that we donÕt normally read during SSR.

The final PTA meeting of the year is Wednesday, May 23 in our library from 6:30 - 7:30pm.  Refreshments and childcare will be provided.

Parent Homework: I look forward to seeing you all next Thursday night at Open House.  Remember it will follow Lower GradeÕs Spring Sing, which begins at 6pm.  After you visit our class, feel free to check out whatÕs going on in 6th grade.  However, remember that they are busy with their current students and families.  If you have questions about curriculum or anything for next year, feel free to email Mrs. Brown or Mr. Carter.

A hui hou,  Kelly
