GIVE ME 5!
Ask any Vieja Valley Student what this means and with a friendly high 5 they will tell you that it stands for respect, cooperation, responsibility, kindness and honesty. These are the 5 character traits reinforced at Vieja Valley both in the classroom and outside the classroom.
Parents are encouraged to reinforce these positive character traits at home.
We demonstate:
- respect by being nice to others and the world around them.
- Cooperation by working together and listening actively
- Responsibility by always being the best we can be
- Kindness by using words and actions that are kind, caring and considerate
- Honesty by always being truthful
Every month a different character trait is emphasized, of course, without forgetting the rest.
- September & October – Responsibility
- November & December – Kindness
- January & February – Honesty
- March & April – Respect
- May & June - Cooperation
When students are “caught” practicing one of these character development traits, they are given a Gotcha Gram. Students bring their Gotcha Gram to the office to be stamped. Their name goes into a box. At the next assembly, the principal draws 3 names out of the box and takes these 3 students to lunch.
We are proud of our students at Vieja Valley where everyone can ‘Give Me Five’, even when it seems hard to do. |
