I have been at Vieja Valley School since September 2000. I thoroughly enjoy working with students as they are experiencing many different techniques, mediums, and exploring various artists' styles. Students love to express themselves using clay, tempera paints, pastels, watercolors and many different materials. Sometime we combine what students are learning in their classrooms into art projects. Each year, second and third graders start their school year creating and donating over 100 clay bowls to "Empty Bowls," the Santa Barbara Food Bank fundraiser. Each year, fourth graders paint beautiful missions and make missions out of clay which look like something you can buy in the gift shop. Throughout the year, our art classes participate in many contests and win various prizes. Our students take great pride when their art is displayed in many different locations throughout our community. During Open House in May, I hold a Student Art Show for the entire student body at Vieja Valley. It is fun for everyone to see what we create throughout the school year.
